Chase Briscoe, the Stewart Haas Racing driver, had quite an outing at the recently concluded NASCAR Cup Series race at the Talladega raceway. Briscoe’s race was a total roller coaster ride where he experienced the lowest of lows and some surprising bright moments. He ended his race in a solid P4 for his team, but during his post-race interview, he admitted that he had no idea how he managed to do it.

The Cup Series race at Talladega was full of chaos, and Chase Briscoe, while shedding light on his pit lane incident, said, “It was weird. It felt like (the world’s slowest donut). I felt like I was going to be a meme eventually or something. It was weird; I just literally couldn’t move. I went from first gear to reverse up to third gear, just trying anything I could, and it was definitely just a helpless feeling.”

During the first round of pit stops in the GEICO 500, Chase Briscoe spun in the pitlane and, in the process of doing so, blew the right front tire. After that, he was just sitting on the pit lane with his wheels spinning. He has admitted at one point during the incident; he felt like he was going to be a meme with quite a lot of phones focused on his car.

The incident was a bizarre one, and while the officials tried to play along for a bit with the hope of Briscoe finding a solution, the officials finally decided to take matters into their own hands and decided to throw caution on lap 44. He said, “It was funny — I think the pit box I was spinning out in, all their pit crew guys had their phones out and were videoing it. It was embarrassing. I was just sitting there doing circles in front of them. Just a weird circumstance.”

The NASCAR Cup Series race at Talladega was a chaotic affair for quite a lot of drivers. While several drivers, because of carnage, were not able to do the race they had intended, Chase Briscoe was probably the luckiest of the lot who was able able to make his way through his troubles and up into a brilliant P4 finish.

He, while talking about the luck that was on his side at Talladega said, “Honestly, super lucky we didn’t go three laps down there. If I went three down, there is no way I would get back on the lead lap. Just a lucky break that we ended up being two (laps) down. And when I was out there, I was thinking about how lucky I was I didn’t get a speeding penalty because I was spinning out pretty fast, and that would have been another lap down too. It honestly just all worked out today for us.”

Chase Briscoe has acknowledged that he was quite lucky in comparison to some of the other drivers at the event. Despite all the challenges, he was somehow able to make his way up to P4, and this will give him confidence going into the rest of the campaign. If you had to summarize the Talladega race in one word, what would it be and why?
