Hendrick Motorsports’ Chase Elliott has given a little life update. He revealed to fans via a video on X about undergoing medical treatment to address an old injury on his right shoulder.  Elliott had a disappointing 2023 season that saw him miss out on the playoff due to the winless run, and he is hoping to make a strong comeback next year.

In the video posted, the Chevy driver is seen speaking while his right hand is resting on a sling. He said that he had done a procedure on the right shoulder to treat an old injury and decided to do it during the post-season as it was the best time.

He went on to claim that he feels better than the last surgery to treat him for the snowboarding accident during the first half of the 2023 season. Elliott claimed that he is all good and ready for the 2024 season, starting with the season opener Daytona 500 in February.

I had a little procedure on my shoulder and had an old injury that I needed to get tended to, and obviously, the offseason is the much better time to do that than my last surgery. So, here we are, and everything is all good ready to go for 2024; certainly looking forward to the Daytona 500 coming up in February.

2023 was the worst Cup season of Chase Elliott’s career

The 2020 Cup champion came to the 2023 season determined to fight for the championship after a disappointing end to his 2022 Cup title chase in the finale at Phoniex. He had good finishes in the first two races and, ahead of the third event, unfortunately, suffered an injury to his tibia.

The injury was due to a snowboarding accident just a day ahead of the third race of the season. This sidelined him for six Cup races, and he was also suspended for retaliation against Denny Hamlin just weeks after his return. He lost valuable momentum on the sidelines as it resulted in a winless season, his first since his rookie year.

The winless run cost him the playoff, and despite giving everything for the owner’s championship, he couldn’t produce a win, and that chase ended in despair as well. From the 29 races he started, Elliott scored seven top-5s and 15 top-10s with an average finish of 13.1. These are solid numbers, but compared to the standard he has previously set, they are underwhelming.
