Bubba Wallace failed to convert his first NASCAR cup series pole start to a win last weekend at Michigan International Speedway as he was only able to finish P2 behind Stewart Hass Racing veteran Kevin Harvick. The 28 years old are witnessing one of the greatest race days he has in his career as the 23×1 Racer has finished inside the top 10 in all of the last four races in his No:23 Camry.

The TRD driver, being the only full-time African American Racer, has been at the receiving end of constant criticism for his every action as there are a group of fans that don’t appreciate the backing he is getting from NASCAR and Wallace’s underachievement over the years also does not help in keeping the hate afar.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. has been one of the most respected at the same time outspoken NASCAR drivers of all time and the 15 times Fan favorite driver of the season award winner has a cult following in NASCAR, unlike any other driver. Now the JR Motorsports owner has come forth expressing his thoughts on how the online hate is affecting Bubba Wallace and how it should be redeemed in his recent podcast reviewing the Michigan cup race.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. pointed out that the emotional interview given by Bubba Wallace following his Michigan P2 was very emotional and hard. He added that he wanted to put his arms around the man and console him giving him the needed advice to overcome his emotions of grief and disappointment.

We saw an emotional interview from Bubba Wallace. I feel like as hard as it was to see Bubba in that emotion — of course, when you’re watching somebody feel that way, you can’t help but go, man, I want to put my arm around that guy and say, ‘Hey, maybe this is the point of view you should take,’ Dale Earnhardt Jr. said.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. went on to say that nothing about the interview had a fake element in it as he was just expressing pure emotions, as there wasn’t anything to fake about. He acknowledged that he felt pretty bad for the 23X1 Racing driver as he is in line with constant criticism on online platforms on a daily basis which mounts the pressure that is already on his shoulders.

But I hope that it was a moment for everyone else to be a witness to the pressure that this guy is under. Because man there wasn’t anything fake about that. That was as genuine as someone could be in a moment like that. I am hoping that the people that put a lot of pressure on Bubba and give him a lot of time and feed him a lot of criticism, particularly online, I hope that those people can see really what this guy is dealing with on a daily basis. I felt pretty bad for him, man,” Dale Earnhardt Jr. added.

Dale Eranhardt Jr. points out that rather than going the way Bubba Wallace did on Sunday where he said “he has failed everybody” he wanted the 28 years old to understand that they have been on the right path and direction over the last couple of weeks, getting closer to a win, rather than belittling himself for the miss.
You could say he had a good enough car to win the race. You got to look at those things and go, ‘Well, you’re close. Not I failed everybody.’ He felt so small. He should take a moment and go — and I think he probably has after the last couple of days — where you go, look, we are close. We are right there. We’re on the threshold of getting that win at a non-plate race track,” Dale Earnhardt Jr. explained.
