NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. made a surprise announcement during the off-season that he is no longer working for NBC as a broadcaster. He started his broadcasting entures with NBC Sport and has been a significant part of the team in the last six years.

He allowed his contract with the broadcaster to run out in the 2023 season and is yet to sign a new deal. Now latest reports from the Athletics suggest that this is because Junior is set to join two different streaming services as a race analyst in 2025.

The streaming platforms in question are Amazon and Warner Bros Discovery, who will enter NASCAR as official broadcaster for 10 races in the middle of the season from 2025 to 2032 as part of the $7.7 billion new broadcasting deal NASCAR signed this year.

The biggest name in NASCAR is on the move. Dale Earnhardt Jr. is leaving NBC and heading to racing newcomers Amazon Prime Video and Warner Bros. Discovery Sports, sources briefed on his decision told The Athletic.
Andrew Marchand reported.

The report also suggests that Dale Jr. will be signing a deal similar to one signed by NFL legend Tom Brady He would only join the telecasting team once the 2025 season starts as the deal was signed to lock him in the team.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. can still do broadcasting in 2024

While he is contracted to the streaming platforms, the two-time Xfinity Series Champion is free to do any broadcasting he wants in 2024. This means he might still appear as an analyst on either Fox or NBC.

The NBC move seems unlikely as it is reported that no significant negotiations are going on between the two. Fox, who has Kevin Harvick in their lineup in the 2024 line, also doesn’t seem to be that invested in the move.

This is because of a reported decision from Junior to take a break in the 2024 season and work on his other commitments such as the podcast. The veteran deserves the break as he has been working hard on NASCAR media for a long time.
