The premier stock car racing organization and its 3 national wide series have been one of the best opportunities provided to the manufacturers to attract new markets. But the difference in vehicles being raced in the respective championships somewhat caused the demand there to exist for manufacturers t have their car featured there which is now kindly being witnessed in the Xfinity series, the second division of the NASCAR series modeled to give the new generation of NASCAR drivers the taste of what is expected from them in the cup series.

In order to get that get edge the Xfinity series had in the past to make sure that the series stays running in order to give youngsters the perfect opportunity to grow,  NASCAR has been throwing around some radical ideas regarding the revival of the series. Dale Earnhardt Jr. pointed out that in order for the NASCAR national series to be a success it’s important to have the Cup, Xfinity, and Truck series matter to the manufacturers of those vehicles. He added that the truck series help the manufacturers to advertise the trucks, which have a big market in the USA, while the Cup series help them to sell the sedans alongside the fact that it’s the elite top series for stock car racing.

The Xfinity Series, the Truck Series, and the Cup Series have to matter to the manufacturer. The Truck Series matters to the manufacturer because, well, they’re trucks. Cup Series matters because that’s the elite top series, and they sell sedans,” Dale Earnhardt Jr. said.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. went on to say the Xfinity series has kind of lost its purpose as the pony car thing it was built upon is no longer a matter of importance for the manufacturers. He acknowledges that he doesn’t think the Xfinity series is having any big impact on sales of Camaro’s (Chevy) or Mustangs (Ford). He points out the Xfinity series needs to provide manufacturers a bigger purpose or a specific purpose to stay around the series for long.

The Xfinity Series has kind of lost its purpose. What is its purpose to the manufacturer? The pony car thing was cool for a while, but the manufacturers obviously aren’t married to selling pony cars every year. They can sell them regardless — the Camaro, the Mustang, or whatever. I don’t think that the Xfinity Series is having a huge impact on automotive sales in that market. There needs to be a bigger purpose for the manufacturers or some specific purpose for the manufacturers to want that Xfinity Series to be there,” Dale Earnhardt Jr. added.

Using his series show producer Matthew Dilner in his hypothetical example Dale Earnhardt Jr. revealed one of the proposed plans he came across in NASCAR for the Xfinity series where in order to appease the manufacturers and dealers NASCAR changed Xfinity cars to Six or four-cylinder engines maybe to an SUV as he an idea that NASCAR had.

“Let’s find out what that series can do for Matthew Motors. If Matthew Motors needs to sell freaking six-cylinder cars, then maybe that’s what the Xfinity Series should be. Maybe it’s a four-cylinder. I don’t know. Whatever it needs to be. SUVs. I’ve heard NASCAR throw that idea around,” Dale Earnhardt Jr. revealed.

What?” A surprised co-host Mike Davis asked about Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s revelation. To which Dale Earnhardt replied acknowledging what he said is the truth he doesn’t want to see in the Jr Motorsports, his NASCAR Xfinity outsit shop, saying  “Yes. No kidding, right. Oh my gosh. I will not have a shop full of SUV race cars.”
