Dale Earnhardt Jr. is the most renowned NASCAR driver in the history of the sport. The semi-retired veteran’s fame can be attributed to his activities off track than his on-track exploits. He hosts the Dale Jr, Download podcast, one of the best in its niche, and regularly shares his life experience on and off track. In the 2023 March episode of the podcast, Jr. shared his recent road rage moment and how his wife, Amy Earnhardt, reacted to it.
The Earnhardt family was recently on a drive with their children on the left lane, and another car suddenly cut in front of him using the exit lane. He felt like the driver was close to jumping in front of him. In the heat of the moment, the former HMS driver started hatting the throttle without any proper idea of what he should do next. Amy Earnhardt quickly shut him won by reminding Jr. they were traveling with their kids.
“I was driving home from the beach, and some jerk — so, I’m driving and I’m in the left lane and there’s an exit ramp going off to the left driving through Charlotte. I’m going to continue straight in my lane. Somebody behind me goes onto that exit ramp, and then cuts in front of me. Like really close just to jump in front of me,” Dale Jr. said.
“There was a moment there when I throttled up and was going to, I don’t know, we were going to have a little race. I don’t know what I was going to do. I was going to do a little side drafting. I’m not sure exactly. I didn’t have a plan but my wife heard me throttle the car up and she goes, ‘You got kids in the car.’ I was like, ‘I do.’ And so I had to let the cowboy ride away. I was pissed off,” Dale Jr. added.

Amy Earnhardt played a big role in Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s transition from an introvert
Dale Jr.’s wife has been a big part of the veteran success since they started dating. They have overcome all the struggles together, supporting each other in tough times. According to the JRM owner, she has played a big role in his transition from an introvert to one who is not afraid of giving bold opinions.
“I was afraid of any kind of rejection or any kind of negativity. When you go put yourself out there, you risk someone not liking that opinion or someone not agreeing with you or making fun of you,” Dale Earnhardt said in an interview.
“Her whole thing was fighting against the introvert that I was and trying to get me to get out and experience things more. The more I got out and experienced things, the more I shared experiences with people. I had more to say. I had more to tell,” Dale Earnhardt added.
