Daniel Suarez became the first Mexican driver to win in NASCAR’s most elite Cup Series last season in Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway. It was his maiden Cup victory, and it looked like he had a “lucky charm” with him. It was a six-year-old girl, Kinsley Wilkerson. Suarez drove with her name on the car’s windshield and claimed his first Cup win. The girl who attended the race with her family battled a rare cancer.
Last season, Trackhouse Racing shared an emotional post after their driver Daniel Suarez’s win. They explained that the 6-year-old was battling a rare brain and spinal cord cancer. The team called her their “lucky charm.” The following day after the race, she was due for surgery.
Trackhouse Racing asked fans to cheer her on and send their thoughts and positivity along her way. Suarez, who considered her his lucky charm asked her, “Now you have to come with me every race. Are you okay with that?” On July 11th, the little angel lost her five-year battle with cancer.
Daniel Suarez and Trackhouse Racing owner Justin Marks took to social media to share their condolences. Suarez tweeted, “It’s difficult to find the right words to say. I find some comfort in knowing that Kinsley had a great time the day this picture was taken, as we celebrated my 1st cup win together. Her unicorn will always be above my door & I know she will be my guiding light. RIP little angel.”

Justin Marks also expressed his sorrow. He stated, “This angel’s unicorn has been on the door every day since Sonoma last year as we prayed and supported her battle. She’s now keeping the seat warm for us in paradise if we’re so lucky. We love you, Kinsley. Rest in paradise sweet girl.” There is no doubt that Kinsley was special to the Trackhouse Racing team as they mourn her death.
NASCAR fans commented on Suarez’s and Marks’ tweets. They sent their thoughts and prayers to her family and the Trackhouse Racing team. Though words cannot express the level of pain a person undergoes, Suarez and Marks penned an emotional message for Kinsley. After all, the little one attended the race last season and shared memories with Trackhouse Racing.
Kinsley Wilkerson’s name was on the car that drove Daniel Suarez to his first-ever Cup victory. The little one was a part of the team’s win. A driver never forgets his first win, and Suarez’s first victory cannot be told without mentioning the little warrior. Kinsley Wilkerson will always be a part of Trackhouse Racing.
