Daniel Suarez seems under a lot of pressure racing with Trackhouse’s No. 99 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 in his third year for the team. He needs 28 points to snatch a place in the playoffs from Bubba Wallace, who is in 16th place in the championship table. Recently, in an interview with Fox Sports, Suarez reflected on his 2023 season and his plans going ahead.

Suarez admitted that the season is not going as expected at its beginning. He said that while they were expecting more wins, it was still too early to be disappointed. The Mexican claimed that the team still has the time and potential to make the 2023 season a success.

“The season isn’t what I was expecting… I was expecting a little more speed, especially in the middle part of the year. And more wins, to be honest. But it is too early to be disappointed… Right now, we are in a very unique position,” Suarez told Fox Sports.

Suarez has finished in the top five just three times this year, which includes his third-place finish in Indianapolis. As he heads to Watkins Glen this weekend, he will look to take his place in the playoffs. He can only manage to do so if he can win either this weekend or the next at Daytona.

The upcoming two races in Watkins Glen and Daytona are crucial for Daniel Suarez, as they will determine his place in the playoffs. The Mexican is behind by 28 points and needs a win in at least one of the two races to cement his place in the final 16. He was recently asked how he felt about the track going into the race weekend at Watkins Glen.

Suarez said that Watkins Glen has always been good for him as it was the track where he got his first top-five finish. He said that they would fight for the win there and would get a good number of points even if they don’t manage to win.

“But definitely at Watkins Glen, I see a racetrack of opportunities. We can go out there and for sure be in the top-5, hopefully fighting for the win.  And if we don’t win, we can have a very, very solid points day,” said Suarez.
