The 2024 NASCAR Cup season will start with the third edition of the unofficial season opener, the LA Clash at the Colosseum. The 0.25-mile track will see the 23 drivers who qualify from the 40-car entry list fighting it out for the win in the 150-lap event. The race will act as the trendsetter for the 2024 NASCAR Cup season.
While talking about the race this coming Sunday, Trackhouse Racing’s star Mexican driver, Daniel Suarez, pointed out that surviving the chaos would be the key to securing a potential win at the race. Despite being just 150 lap events, the 2023 edition saw 16 cautions, with drivers being aggressive with each other. Hence, surviving this incident and moving up front will ensure success.
Survive. You have to be there at the end. We had 16 cautions last year. That tells you survival is the key to winning.Suarez said, as reported by Speedway Digest.
Despite properly understanding the nature of the race, Daniel Suarez hasn’t secured a top-10 finish at the event. In 2022, on the inaugural race, he finished P14, and in last season’s edition, he was able to secure just a P19 finish. Going into 2024, he will be hoping to become the first Chevy driver to win the LA Clash.
Daniel Suarez is set to make NASCAR history with LA Clash double-duty
The 2024 edition of LA Clash will be a unique event. Alongside the Cup garage, the drivers from the NASCAR Mexico series will also feature at the event. This is part of the strategy to market both the series to the race fans.
Suarez, the sole and most successful Mexican racer in NASCAR, will be part of both events as he will drive In both races. Alongside his regular driving duty with Trackhouse, he will return to memory lane with an entry in the NASCAR Mexico race with the same sponsor.
Suarez, a ten-time NASCAR Mexico race winner, will drive the Chevy of Scuderia Telmex Team. His team will be led by Mexican NASCAR Crew chief Jose Blascom, who has previously worked with Suarez in the 2021 Atlanta race.
