Kevin Harvick
NASCAR cup series teams will hit the Darlington Raceway this weekend for the first round of cup racing, where 16 different drivers from 5 different teams will begin their chase of the ultimate stock car racing glory. The Cook Out South 400 will also serve as the start of redemption runs for some drivers who went winless in the regular season, as they will be hoping to get back to the top before the upcoming year.
Going into the first round of the definite championship contenders and race win contender is the No:4 Stewart Hass Racing Ford pilot Kevin Harvick. The veteran who broke his 68-race winless streak by securing two consecutive wins towards the end of the season will be hoping that the momentum he gathered from these wins will catapult him to a great start to the playoffs.

Find out what Kevin Harvick expects to happen in Darlington
Kevin Harvick, when asked about his opinion on the post-season commencing in Darlington, acknowledged that the track is among the ones that represent NASCAR very well and added that the track seems to be the same as it was in the 1960s. He pointed out that Darlington is a unique track as it allows drivers to relate to the moment it all started for NASCAR there.
“Well, Darlington just screams NASCAR. From a competitor’s standpoint, when you drive through the tunnel and you look at that racetrack, it seems the same as it did in 1960. From my standpoint, being able to race at a racetrack like that, whatever generation car I’m in, you can relate back to how it started. Darlington is narrow, it’s unique, and it’s just Darlington,” Kevin Harvick said.
Kevin Harvick acknowledged that seeing the campers around the Darlington track is a part of NASCAR history he doesn’t want to see fade away, saying, “You pull in the tunnel, and you see the blue tarps and the tents and the people just hanging out in the infield – it’s just a great place to race and forever a part of NASCAR history that I will always enjoy,”.
Kevin Harvick went on to say that he understands the characteristics of the Darlington track as he has been on the wrong side of the nasty bite before at the track when he got carried away back then. He added that the track is a place he loves to go back to and respects the challenges that come with it when racing.
“I know the characteristics of the racetrack, as far as having to respect it and racing the track. I know what that means, and I’ve definitely been in the wrong position and got carried away and had it bite me before. But it’s a place that I look forward to going to. It’s a place where I enjoy racing and love the challenges that go with it,” says Kevin Harvick.
Kevin Harvick went on to add that he has been good at the track over the last couple of years and expects to find similar success on the coming Sunday’s post-season opening race. He added that he expects to have a fun and successful ride at the track on Sunday.
“I think over the last several years, we’ve been fortunate to have some success there, and the expectation is to go there and have a chance to race up front and put yourself in contention. So that’ll be the expectation as we go back this time and, hopefully, we can do that and have some fun,” added Kevin Harvick.
