Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin and Trackhouse Racing driver Ross Chastain have not had the best relationship on track. The NASCAR Cup Series drivers often expressed their frustration with each other. It is no secret that Hamlin was often annoyed with Chastain for wrecking his race. Last July, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver said he reached his peak tolerance level with Chastain.
The duo have crashed into each other on several occasions. It was not long ago that Hamlin admitted to intentionally wrecking Chastain on the last lap at the Phoenix Raceway. However, things have changed as Dale Earnhardt Jr. spilled tea on his Dale Jr Download podcast on Dirty Mo Media. He explained the relationship between Hamlin and Chastain by providing insight into the drama.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. spoke about Hamlin’s latest thoughts on Chastain. He stated, “Denny said we’ve had some conversations, and he (Ross Chastain) is warming up to me. We’re starting to feel like – Hey! We might become friends.” Earnhardt Jr. also compared them and the iconic couple, Ross and Rachel, from the American show F.R.I.E.N.D.S.
Dale joked, “So, this is like, in F.R.I.E.N.D.S, you know where Ross and Rachel keep breaking up and keep getting back. That’s Ross and Denny. They are gonna be pals and then they are gonna crash on the track and be fighting and then they’ll be pals again.” His co-host well received this statement, and they burst out laughing. The 48-year-old explained that such bonds are essential for NASCAR as it adds entertainment.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. says Denny Hamlin and Ross Chastain bring bromance and fighting into NASCAR
Dale Earnhardt Jr. said, “So that’s the mark of a great entertaining show, that’s what NASCAR needs. NASCAR needs that sort of bromance and the brawling and the fighting and the feuds and the arguments. And then the mending of the fences and then it all goes back to hell.” As it stands, Dale is all for the “bromance” and the drama.
The co-host seemed to agree with the 2022 NASCAR Hall of Famer. He joked that everything Dale said had happened in the past week. However, Chastain is in the bad books of many due to his aggressive racing. The recent event with Kyle Larson is the perfect example.
The pair were fighting for the lead when Chastain had a crash that took him and Larson out of the competition for the win. However, Trackhouse Racing and team owner Justin Marks will help Chastain control his temper because they see his potential.
