Kevin Harvick marked his final NASCAR race last Sunday when he crossed the start-finish line at P7. The 2014 Champion announced at the start of 2023 that this would be his final season in NASCAR before moving on to explore other roles. Harvick returned to NASCAR in 2023 as a race analyst at Fox Sports’s race booth.
The Stewart Haas Racing legend will join ex-Cup driver Clint Bowyer and veteran broadcaster Mike Joy in the booth. He is expected to be a significant part of the team. He will bring the racing perspective of a champion, something the booth has been lacking this season if not for the occasional appearance from Tony Stewart.

According to Joe Gibbs Racing veteran Denny Hamlin, it will not be the only thing Harvick will bring to the table at Fox. He believes the ex-Ford driver can give the technical explanation that was missing this season during their broadcast. He also expects the 60 times Cup race winner to push everyone at Fox to do better in the booth.
I just want to say happy retirement. He’s still going to give back to the sport, by being part of the TV. I tell you, he can really improve that FOX booth a ton. I think he’ll push them to be better. From what we’ve seen, NBC, FOX, the big variation in the production that the two have. It’s just like, there’s a lot to be gained there in the FOX booth, and I think that Kevin will push everyone to do that…Denny Hamlin said Via Action Detrimental (H&T: On3.com).

Denny Hamlin explains one thing Fox can do better in race coverage
Fox Sports did receive some backlash over their coverage of the sport in the 2023 season. The first drama was the ads, as some fans were angry at the broadcaster for having too many commercials. This even led to Mike Joy having some back and forth with race fans on X. Them missing important moments of the race and the lack of technical explanations were also factors.

Once NBC took over the broadcast, though there was some drama on social media, they did a better job regarding the coverage and technical explanations. Hamlin wants Fox to up the game on the same and use Harvick, who he believes can deliver the same, to produce a better viewing experience for the viewers.
So I’m excited to see how that turns out for sure. You’ve got a great base there, so I think that there’s going to be something good that comes there from that. … I think that FOX definitely could be more technical in their explaining of stuff, but he’ll help with that. He’ll no doubt help with that. I think he’s going to push [Clint] Bowyer and those guys to be better.
