LEGACY MOTOR CLUB’s Erik Jones predicted that Sunday’s North Wilkesboro All-Star race would be an aggressive affair between the drivers. It’s the second and last Cup exhibition race of the 2023 season. The winner of the race will get a $1 Million check. It’s the first time North Wilkesboro is hosting a Cup race after 1996 and the first-ever mid-regular season exhibition race at the track.

The track offers the right opportunity for the Cup teams to re-evaluate their plans for the rest of the regular season, as there are just 13 races left for the drivers to secure a playoff spot. LEGACY MC drivers are desperate for a good race, as they have been among the worst performers this year. They are yet to field a competitive car, and the all-star race is an opportunity for them to try something new.

Erik Jones, who sports the iconic No:43 car, has some points to prove going into the weekend. He is driving the No:43 STP Camaro ZL1 to honor the team’s co-owner Richard Petty and putting on a good show will be the perfect way to honor him. But going into the non-point race week, the biggest concern Jones have is the aggressive duels that might occur on Sunday.

It’s always exciting to get the chance to participate in an All-Star race and to get to do it at a historic track like North Wilkesboro is even more special. I took some advice from ‘The King’ as he said the track is so worn out it tire fall off will be high,” Erik Jones said.

We hope to put on a good show for the fans of the No. 43. Richard (Petty) told me with this “Day Glo Red” I can’t hide from him – and with no points and a million bucks on the line, it’s going to be an aggressive race. It would be historic to put this car in victory lane again so we are going to do everything we can to make that happen,” Erik Jones added.

Unlike Jones, who has already secured a spot for Sunday’s race as he was a race winner last season, Noah Gragson either has to win the open race or secure a spot via fan vote. He is confident that he might win the open race but has been campaigning hard to secure a spot from fans in case he fails in the open race.

I’ve been looking forward to the All-Star race weekend. The “Vote for Noah” fan vote campaign has been pretty fun and the fans have really gotten into it. We’ve been handing out buttons and posting flyers everywhere. I hope to win the Open race and not need the vote, but either way, I want the No. 42 Sunseeker Resorts Chevrolet in the main event.” Gragson said.

It’s going to be a wild race at a historic track where we can highlight our pit crews and team, have some fun and go for it all. I hope the fans have a blast. It’s going to be a special weekend, and I am really just happy to have the opportunity to be a part of it,” Gragson added.
