Hedrick Motorsports has announced that Alex Bowman will return to the cup series to race the No:48 Chevy Camaro ZL1 at Charlotte. He has been out of the series for the last four race weeks. JR Motorsports’ Josh Berry drove Bowman’s car in three-point paying races and the All-Star race last Sunday.

Bowman got injured during a high-speed crash while competing in his teammate Kyle Larson’s sprint car championship race at Iowa. He was initially expected to return before the All-Star race but had to wait an extra week to get clearance. Bowman has 13 races left in the series to secure a playoff spot by scoring a win.

Unlike his teammate Chase Elliott who missed six races before him due to an injury, the Ally-sponsored driver doesn’t have to worry too much about his championship points. He is just five points off the cut-off line. The biggest challenge for him will be the 600 miles Coco-Cola-backed event he is giving to mark his return. It will be physically taxing for him.

“It’s a boost for all of us to have Alex return to the No. 48 car this weekend at our home track. Still 17th in points, which says a lot about how well the team performed at the start of the year. Alex has worked hard to rehab the injury and come back strong, and I look for him to continue having a championship-caliber season,” owner Rick Hendrick said about Bowman’s return.

The team has once again praised the substitute role Berry played this season. Jeff Andrews said, “Josh is an absolute pro. His talent and hard work allowed the team to continue operating at a high level while Alex recovered. We can’t say enough about the great job he did under some challenging circumstances. We’re grateful to Josh and our partners at JRM for their support,”.

The NASCAR nation, especially Chevy and Bowman fans, are delighted to see the return of their favorite driver. Some fans demanded a similar welcome to Bowman as Chase Elliott got when he returned.  Few fans took the opportunity to troll the driver and claimed that he should be replaced by Berry.
