NASCAR has announced that legendary driver and sports pundit Jeff Burton will be the latest inductee into the list of 25 drivers who will be added to the 75 Greatest Drivers list. The ‘Mayor’ was informed of the induction by his son and Cup series driver Harrison Burton just before the Talladega Cup race, which disappointingly ended his day.

Jeff Burton started his career driving for his father, Jose Burton, in the lower divisions before making his Xfinity Series debut in 1988. He made his Cup series debut in 1993 after a stint in the second division series for multiple years. In 1994 he got his full-time Cup ride with Stavola Brothers Racing and, after, landed a seat with Roush Racing. His stint in the Roush garage saw him scorning back-to-back top-10 finishes in the championship.

He spent the second half of his NASCAR career with Richard Childress Racing and was one of their prominent drivers and earned a name for his consistency. Burton finished his career with the RCR in 2013 and went into broadcasting. He came out of retirement twice to drive for Michael Waltrip Racing and Stewart Hass Racing for a few races.

In his 22 years long Cup career, He scored 21 wins and 254 top 10s from 695 starts. He won the crown jewel race, Coca-Cola 600, twice (1999 and 2001) and the 1999 Southern 500. He was awarded the Rookie of the Year award on his Cup series full-time debut in 1994. In his Xfinity Series career, he made 306 starts and went on to score 27 wins and 153 Top 10s. He failed to score a win from his four starts in the Truck Series. He also has an IROC race win.
