NASCAR’s crossover with video games is nothing new. This time, it’s with a popular Battle Royale format game Fortnite. Hendrick Motorsports and Ally Financial have dropped the first look of the No.48 Chevrolet Camaro’s Fortnite paint scheme for the NASCAR regular Cup season finale, the Coke Zero Sugar 400. Alex Bowman will get behind the wheel of this Fortnite-themed car in Daytona.
Fortnite launched the Ally Arena in March, featuring the Ally 48 Island, shaped after Alex Bowman’s No.48 Chevy. The Hendrick Motorsports driver will showcase the Ally Arena livery this weekend to honor and celebrate the launch. This aims to promote a new level in the game. The bright purple paint scheme will be hard to miss on the track, and there is no doubt that this car will serve under the lights on Sunday.
Alex Bowman expressed his excitement about the Fortnite paint scheme. He told Forbes, “It’s really cool to see Ally find ways to continue to make Nascar more inclusive. The car is super bright and has all the different characters from the game, which I think is really neat. But this scheme isn’t out of character for Ally – they are really good at going all in on their programs, and I think that is another reason I am really proud to be working with everyone on that team. They don’t go halfway on anything, and this scheme is another example.”

Here is how the NASCAR fans reacted to Alex Bowman’s Fortnite Paint Scheme
NASCAR fans had mixed reactions toward the No.48 Chevy’s paint scheme. One user mocked NASCAR’s effort by saying, “NASCAR keeping up with pop culture half a decade behind as usual.” Another fan stated, “Having Rocket League and Fortnite sponsor cars was definitely not on my bingo card for this year. Looks solid.” The fan referred to Tyler Reddick’s Rocket League paint scheme at Michigan.
One fan was thrilled about the partnership and stated, “I’m a big NASCAR fan, and I like every Hendricks driver also, I love playing Fortnite, so this is a win-win for me.” However, some were dissatisfied, “Ally tries way too hard. Geesh.” “LMFAO, THE F****** BLOB-FISH ON THE SIDE” was one comment. Take a look at more below.
The upcoming race is a big one for Alex Bowman. If he wins the race, he can make it into the playoffs. Bowman has a good qualifying record at Daytona, as he has been on the front row for six years. This could play to his advantage though it is a long shot. His teammate Chase Elliott will also be hunting for a win to enter the playoffs. However, the question is, can Alex Bowman take his Fortnite paint scheme car to the victory lane on Sunday?
