The 75th anniversary season of the NASCAR Cup series witnessed its unofficial grand opening ceremony at Loa Angeles. The LA Memorial Colosseum hosted the 0.25-mile clash where the Cup garage went head-to-head in a 150-laps showdown. Joe Gibbs Racing veteran Martin Truex Jr. emerged victorious and redeemed himself for the winless run in 2023.
The day’s highlight was Wiz Khalifa’s music concert on the stage break after the first 75 laps of the race. During his pre-race interview, the veteran rapper promised to bring in smoke and gas to the party and provided a solid performance after an entertaining first half of racing.
Along with Khalifa, many other high-profile stars attended the NASCAR spectacle. Actor Rob Lowe and 2022 Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams were the dignitaries at the event. Renowned Rap band Cypress Hill impressed with their pre-race concert. Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton were also present at the event, and Stefani even made a special appearance at the Fox broadcasting booth. Actor Joel McHale was also present at the event.
Joel McHale was tasked with the pre-race introductions of drivers, and he produced his iconic style to the table. Rob Lowe gave drivers the famous start your engine command, and Caleb Williams, who has produced some of his career-best performances at the stadium, waved the green flag.
The second half of the clash after the concert wasn’t the same as the first one; the caution-filled race tested fans’ patience. A total of 16 cautions were called this year compared to the 5 from last season, and one of the major contributors to the growing number is the experience drivers gained last year.

How fans reacted to Wiz Khalifa’s halftime show
Fans had a mixed reaction to the performance of the musician. Some were quick to praise the show and even claimed that it was the best concert NASCAR had in several years. Some fans weren’t pleased with the performance, and some also took the opportunity to troll the singer and NASCAR.
