Ross Chastain who drives the No.1 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Trackhouse Racing competing full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series and he seems to be taking it slow when it comes to racing for the championship.

Ross Chastain has had an amazing season so far with four top 5s and the rest of his outings not being over P20 and despite having 2 DNFS he has also won the Echopark Automotive Grand Prix at COTA and the recent Geico 500 at Talladega and he hopes to keep this same performance up going forward to race at the Dover International Speedway.

“I was the variable and now the car is such a big variable,” says Ross Chastain when asked about the NextGen car

Ross Chastain seems to be pretty patient and aims at remaining focused and he is aware that he has the balance right along with speed so he just hopes to compete well at Dover Motor Speedway and the upcoming race at Darlington Raceway.

“Yeah, I don’t know if we could compete, we only get the balance right and the handling is okay then we got plenty of speed so no idea, I just hope at Dover, Darlington yes, I expect to go to the next few races and compete,” said Ross Chastain.

He further added saying that with 193 days left for the championship, he is sure that his team is working to find ways to handle the car better, and he also added that when he started racing, his skill and other drivers were the major factors but now, the NextGen car is a huge deciding factor for the win.

“193 days that’s a lot of progress in the sport I mean we are Chevrolet’s at the wind tunnel all the time, I have always been coming in when the car was an established thing, I was the variable and now the car is such a big variable,” said Ross Chastain.

He finally concluded saying that he was never the one to witness this side of the racing world and that with the advancements in the sport the time will fly.

“I have never been on this side of the evolution of a race car in a series before, that week to week we are evolving so quickly that 193 days will be a lifetime in NASCAR,” concluded Ross Chastain.

With Ross Chastain now standing 9th with 292 points in the points table, will he emerge victorious in his other outings this year and go on to win the 2022 NASCAR Championship?
