Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing’s No:17 Ford Mustang driver Chris Buescher made the NASCAR headline last Saturday as he made his way to the top in the Cup Qualifying on Saturday securing his first career pole and his team’s first in the 2022 season. But the 29-year-old was unable to convert his first pole start on Sunday as he lost the lead as early as lap 19 and finished at P13 when the race was postponed to Monday following a rain delay.

On Monday noon Chris Buescher drove himself back to the  P8 from P13 with the help of some amazing driving and some unfortunate incidents that happened to the front runners. Dover is the 3ed Top 10 finish for Buescher this season alongside his five Top 20 finishes. Chris Buescher finished the race 12 places ached of his teammate and partial team owner Brad Keselowski at P20 and is placed 19th in the championship table.

Chris Buescher following his disappointing but encouraging finish to the race acknowledged that the dirty air on the track was the main cause of loss.

Chris Buescher said that it was an interesting two days for his No:17 RFK Racing team and every member of the team worked hard to get the results in Dover Motor speedway. He went on to say that though they failed to get the desired result the team sees the Dover run as a momentum builder. Chris Buescher went on to say that his car’s inability to perform well in dirty air compared to clean air was definitely a factor behind their disappointing performance.

“It was an interesting two days. It was a good run for the Fastenal Mustang. Everyone on the team worked really hard and did a nice job. It is a momentum builder. It isn’t all that we wanted but the pole was awesome, that was really cool. I know we had speed in it in clean air. We just fought dirty air. Unfortunately, that is a really big deal here,” Chris Buescher said.

The former Xfinity and Truck race champion revealed that he drove fine when he could move around the track but things took a bad turn when the time came to drive in line due to the heavy dirty air his car kept sucking in. Chris Buescher added that he is excited about his chances of going into Darlington.

“We could move around for a little bit and the tires would fall off, which is great, but once we got to the point where we had to kind of stay in line we were just sucking up dirty air which made it hard. We want more. I am not content there but it is a strong run for us and I am excited to head into Darlington,” Chris Buescher added.
