“It was frustrating,” Erik Jones might be on the lookout for opportunities with other big teams after a dissatisfying run at Talladega with Petty GMS

Erik Jones

Erik Jones who drives the No.43 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Petty GMS Motorsports full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series seems to be looking for bigger and better chances given the fact that he has not had a bad season so far.

Erik Jones has had 3 top 10 finishes this season and stands 17th in the points table with No.43 being famous since it was driven by NASCAR legend Richard Petty. Jones also seems to be the luckiest this season if he wins a Cup Series with the No.43 as it will have won 200 Cup Series races holding the record for 2nd car to achieve this feat.

Erik Jones was unfortunately involved in a final lap mishap as he went on to defend Kyle Larson on the outside but that ended up bad for both Jones and Larson as they slowed down on impact as Ross Chastain went on to claim the victory, Jones finished 6th at Talladega.

“I try to look at the positives,” says a very distraught Erik Jones

Erik Jones seemed to be pretty disappointed after the race at Talladega as he went on to say that it was heart-breaking and despite him searching for positives being a fast car, leading upfront, and all that makes him want to work more. He also added saying that he would be ecstatic to see the infamous No.43 take to the victory lane sometime soon and thought it was the day as he was fast and in lead.

“It was frustrating, I try to look at the positives. That was we did have a fast car, led laps, and were in the lead coming to where we needed to be. It just makes you want to work harder,” said Erik Jones.

“Would really love to get the 43 in Victory Lane, I thought today might be the day. All day long we were fast and had speed,” said Erik Jones.

He concluded by saying that he was out there up front leading for the most part of the race but couldn’t quite finish off strong which left him pretty disappointed.

“Especially being upfront there at the end, the last 10, I knew we had a shot, but just couldn’t quite close it out,” concluded Erik Jones.

Erik Jones is currently falling just 12 points short of a playoff spot and is in a tie with his previous season standings with JGR. If at all Jones can certify his worthiness, he can definitely attract the big fishes like RCR as he drives a Chevrolet which isn’t new to him and is on likes with that of RCR or a new team like the Trackhouse Racing as they can use someone as experienced as Jones.

Will Erik Jones stick with Petty GMS or take off as soon as he gets a chance with some other organization?
