The 2022 season will be remembered as a year that saw a matured Joey Logano cementing a future Hall of Fame entry. He produced one of the most consistent seasons a driver could hope for and dominated the playoffs to win his second-cup championship.
He won 4 races this season including the season finale. His consistency in the Next-Gen car has been remarkable as he finished outside the top 20 only 9 times. He secured top 10 finishes in more than half of the races the whole season.
The 2022 season saw Joey Logano, who was calm and composed. He was more cautious with his aggressive moves and earned the respect of the cup garage. This has inspired cup legend, Jeff Burton, to crown Logano as the “most valuable driver in the sport”.

Jeff Burton clarifies his most valuable driver claim and he is right
Jeff Burton pointed out that Logano is the one who does all the things on and off the track right. Being a nice guy off the track is something Burton sees as a difficult job to do. Joey Logano is also willing to go the extra mile for the commitments he has with his sponsors.
“(He) does all the things on and off the track right. … It’s very difficult to be the nice guy off the track, understand all the things you’re supposed to do, embrace them and go do your sponsor commitments,” Jeff Burton said.
The enthusiasm and Excitement he still has to change the sport make Logano valuable. Jeff Burton said, “Go try to make the sport better than it was when you got here. Do it with excitement. Do it with enthusiasm. Put the helmet on. I want to be the (expletive) that you have to be to win races,”.
Jeff Burton is tight in calling Joey Logano the most valuable driver of the sport right now. The veteran has earned that accolade with his track performances and the mature person he is from the chaotic young man he once was, has impressed the NASCAR community.
The closest competitor he has this year is Chase Elliott, one of the most followed drivers on the cup grid. The cup championship win and the nice-guy persona on and off track this year give Logano the edge over the Regular Season Champion.
