Joe Gibbs Racing announced that Trevor Bayne will compete in the remaining three races of the 2023 NASCAR Xfinity Series season. The 32-year-old will pilot the team’s No.19 Toyota GR Supra starting with Friday’s race at Daytona International Speedway. It is a special track for Bayne, as he won the 2011 Daytona 500. He was only 20 years old and raced for Wood Brothers Racing.

Trevor Bayne will return to Daytona for the Wawa 250 on Friday, August 25th. He will start the Xfinity playoffs at his home track, the Bristol Motor Speedway, on September 15th. The Knoxville, Tennessee native will conclude his three-race deal with the team at Texas Motor Speedway on September 23rd. It is a track where he won the O’Reilly Auto Parts Challenge in 2011. Bayne is already familiar with these tracks and has established himself as a skillful driver.

Trevor Bayne will be sponsored by Interstate Batteries for the three races, according to the Joe Gibbs Racing post. The 2011 Daytona champion admitted his excitement to return to the car with Jason Ratcliff (crew chief).

He said, as reported by Motorsports.Com in a team release, “We had some strong runs together last year and came close to taking home a trophy a couple of times. It doesn’t hurt that Daytona and Texas have been really good to me in the past, either. Hopefully, we can go out there, pick back up where we left off last year, and compete for a trip to victory lane.”
