Team Penske Racing’s two times Cup Series winning driver Joey Logano found himself in a controversial situation last week at Atlanta Motor Speedway. He was caught using racing gloves that were not approved by SFI and was penalized for it. He has to do a stop-and-go penalty at the start of the race.
Later he was fined $10,000 after NASCAR deemed it as a safety violation. Logano’s gloves were webbed together and he used to get a slight edge using it as an aero device on track. NASCAR later displayed the gloves ahead of the Las Vegas race to explain what went wrong.

Now, Logano has broken the silence on the whole saga and admitted that it was an embarrassing moment for him. He pointed out that he didn’t build the glove and said that he takes a big portion of the blame since he is the driver. Logano added that it was a tough situation for the team.
As a driver, you work with the team and hey, I’m going to take a portion of responsibility for that too, obviously, I shouldn’t have put the glove on. That being said, I didn’t build the glove, I didn’t make it on my own. I can’t sew, okay? So, yeah I mean that’s what it was and we’re having conversations about it. What I’m proud of about this team is that yeah that was a tough situation for us it was hard to go through, embarrassing, for sure.Logano told Fox Sports (H&T: 5 GOATS).
Joey Logano has moved on from the saga as he secures pole at Las Vegas
The first champion of the Next-Gen era is already over all the drama and has secured the pole at the Vegas race. He reckons this was a statement lap from the No:22 team that has been securing front-row starts in the first three races of the season.
The fact that we got through it, and just move on, and focus on the next week and we showed we had some speed in our race car and to be able to put it on the pole here. To me, is a statement-type lap, so proud of that.Logano said.
One thing that would be bugging Logano would be the fact that he has to get over the poor luck he endured in the last two races that have put him at the bottom of the points table. He needs to get back to winning form and redeem himself.
