Joey Logano is the reigning champion of the NASCAR Cup Series. Even though he is still in the race to defend his title by qualifying for the playoffs, Logano is in the bottom order of the last 16. He recently revealed in an interview how he only revels in winning the races and not in trying to go faster.
Logano said that his desire to win is what has kept him in NASCAR so far. He said that he does not mind an easy win, and he and his team are looking to get back to their winning ways as soon as possible. Logano’s #22 Ford Mustang has not yielded the best results for the driver, as he has secured just one victory so far this season.
“The drive to want to win so bad is what keeps me going. That’s what keeps you fighting and looking for more. The only fun part, to me, about racing is winning. And so we have to get back to our winning ways that we know how to do,” Logano told Fox Sports’ Bob Pockrass.

Joey Logano severely criticizes NASCAR’s current system of the Playoffs

NASCAR’s round of 16 in the Cup Series will blast off tomorrow at Darlington. The drivers reach this stage after an exhaustive regular season, and everyone aims to make their way to the championship four. However, reigning world champion Joey Logano has revealed his discontent with the current system of deciding the winner.
Under the current system, drivers fight out in a tough 10-week post-season round of 16. Four out of the sixteen drivers make it to the final race, where that race’s winner becomes the champion, regardless of any other stats, which includes the points. Logano lamented this, saying that after toiling the whole year, it eventually comes down to a single race where the drivers face a do-or-die situation.
“Plenty of times…(we) sit and think about how close we were to winning… if just one thing went different…getting all the way to Championship 4 and not winning; there’s nothing that hurts more than that!,” said Logano.
Logano is the only Penske driver qualified for the playoffs this season. With just 2008 points, he will surely be looking to bring out his A-game, as four of the sixteen drivers will be eliminated in the next three races.
