NASCAR will hit the Nashville Raceway on this weekend for the 17th round of cup racing after this week’s mid-season break. The regular season has so far been among the most unpredictable and exciting in NASCAR history as the Next-Gen cars have changed how the races have been in both positive and negative ways.  Going into Nashville with just 10 more races left this regular season drivers will be going all out to secure the Playoff spots left.

Team Penske has been among the front runners of 2022 without any doubt as they have been such a way for a long time but they are yet to match the performance of the Chevy team in their Ford mustangs, as they only have secured three wins this season courtesy of two wins from veteran Joey Logano and the third one, and then first one of the three, coming in the season opener at Daytona courtesy of rookie Austin Cindric.

Joey Logano, though had some struggles earlier this season is definitely the flag bearer and front runner for the team right now a she has been consistently hitting top finishes in his No:22 car. Alongside his wins, the Gateway and Darlington Logano have finished inside the top 10 five times this season and have another five top 20 finishes. So, coming into Nashville a track that historically has been hard for him Logano is hopeful.

Joey Logano acknowledged that though he jokes about it the Nashville Raceway is a track that has an identity crisis as he pointed out that the track is too big to be a short track at the same time too small to be a speedway. He went on to say that when setting up the car for the race this uncertainty comes into question as it influences your break choices, which makes the race harder. Joey Logano pointed out that this uncertainty has triggered the hype about the unpredictability of the race which the fans crave for.

I joke about this, but that track has an identity crisis. It doesn‘t know what it wants to be. It‘s too big to be a short track but too small to be a speedway. I think when you‘re setting up your car you’re thinking the same thing: ‘How much brake are we going to use?” Joey Logano said

I have a hard time saying what race it‘s going to be like. That‘s why you‘ve got to watch; we don‘t even know. I think the unknown is what drives a lot of hype and a lot of questions. People want to watch things that are unpredictable,” Joey Logano added.

Joey Logano went on to say that the teams are having a hard time understanding the Next-generation cars as their range of understanding differs every week.  He pointed out that it is an up-and-down crazy situation that has produced a lot of inconsistencies.

“You see it every week; there are teams that you think have it figured out and the next week, they‘re in the way and have an issue. It’s like, ‘What the heck is going on?‘ It‘s up and down and crazy. It’s because of the new car and nobody has it figured out, so you have a lot of inconsistencies for that reason,” says Joey Logano.
