Tyler Reddick dominated the proceeding at Indy and secured the win toping cheeky Ross Chastain to win the Indianapolis Motor speedway cup race.
Ross Chastain is one of the prominent members of a new generation of NASCAR drivers with the attitude of winning at any cost which he has showcased throughout this season and the absurdity continued at Indy. Ross Chastain saw his P2 finish being stripped away from him after he made a sassy move on turn 1 in the final restart.
The No:1 Trackhouse Racing Chevy Camaro ZL1 driver who finds himself in very little space outside, in turn, one after the final restart took the NASCAR access lane on the turn to get close to Reddick and eventually make the lead-taking move. But karma came to bite Chastain as he was once again overtaken by Reddick and was given a 30-second penalty by NASCAR at the finish line dropping him to P27.

Ross Chastain acknowledged that he was just trying not to be in the corner, in turn, one as he thought he was in a four-wide fight with nowhere left on the right side to go, which made him choose the NASCAR access lane to get out of that tricky situation.
“Just trying not to be in the corners there in Turn 1. I thought we were four wide, and couldn’t go any farther right, and decided to take the NASCAR access lane out there,” Ross Chastain said.
Ross Chastain went on to say that when asked whether his move was intentional that it was just a pure reaction to him as previously had taken that exit in his practice run on the track on Monday, overshooting turn 1. He pointed out that he made the move in order to make sure that he didn’t end up hitting turn 12.
“No, no, just pure reaction there for our Worldwide Express Chevy. I took it in practice on exit, overshooting Turn 1. You know where they’re at and in 12 you have to go around the loop there, and there is around the pole. Just wanted to not get hit and merged back on where I merged,” Ross Chastain added.
How NASCAR Twitter reacted to Ross Chastain’s move
NASCAR fabs reacted crazily to Chastain taking the shortcut, in turn, one where the majority called out Chastain’s move and supported NASCAR’s decision there were also some comments supporting the No:1 driver. There were also comments calling Chasten a cheater which had limited backing from the fans.
