The race also marked  Justin Haley’s first Top 10 and top 5 of this season as he made full use of his top 15 finishing momentum from the last three rounds of racing. The 23-year-old secured his second-best finish in the NASCAR cup series the first one being his victorious run at the 2019 Daytona Coke Zero Sugar 400. Justin Haley was awarded the win due to oncoming rain as he was in lead.

Now following his third-place finish, Justin Haley has come forward acknowledging that he rates his Darlington finish higher than his Daytona win.

Justin Haley acknowledged that he had a 20th place car when they unloaded at Darlington which he wasn’t happy with and had a disappointing qualifier finishing at P29. He went on to say after the early disappointments his team kept on working and with the wisdom of crew chief Trent Owens, they were able to produce a good run with a car that wasn’t made for the top 3.  Justin Haley added that he had a good momentum and restart at the end which proved to be vital.

I think we probably had a 20th place car – I wasn’t happy with it yesterday when we unloaded and obviously, we qualified 29th, which is not good for anyone. So, it was a trying day. We kept working at it, kept our heads in the game, and never lost sight of it,” Justin Haley said.

It’s obviously a really strong day; this is a good run for us. We obviously did not have a third-place car, but Trent Owens and everyone on the 31-team worked hard all day. We got the free pass there to start (the final stage), and we were building momentum; we had a good restart there at the end,” Justin Haley added.

Justin Haley went on to reiterate that Darlington was a good run for his organization and something they needed. He went on to say that he is thankful because of the fact that he was able to convert his previous top 15 finishes to a higher finish. Justin Haley concluded by saying that the most satisfying part of the race day was the fact that he was able to secure his career-high finish at one of the hardest racetracks.

Definitely a good run for our organization. It’s something we need. We’ve been clicking off top 15s and right around that area, but to show we can do it here and showcase my talents, I’m super thankful. That’s probably the most satisfying part as it is the hardest racetrack. To get my career-high – I’m going to call it my career-high – best finish here, it’s pretty cool,” says Justin Haley.
