Stewart Hass Racing leading driver Kevin Harvick will hit the track on Sunday, chasing his first win of the 2023 season. The veteran, who is set to retire at the end of this year, remains winless and is yet to secure potentially his final Chase entry. The whole SHR squad barring Harvick, s struggling to remain consistent this year. If he can secure a win on Sunday, it might give the team the much-required momentum.

The 2014 Cup champion will race in the Ford Mustang with one of the most closely related paint schemes of the veteran. He will use the livery he was supposed to make his Cup debut in 2001. He ever got to race in the car as he was promoted to full-time duty after the unfortunate death of Dale Earnhardt in that year’s Daytona 500. He took over the No:3 car, which was changed to No:29 as the legend’s replacement.

Going into Sunday’s race, the primary focus of the No:4 crew, according to Harvick, is being disciplined. He pointed out that in order to win at Darlington, which has a Cup prize pool of $7,722,261, to conserve the tires enough and keep away from the wall. He claims that a drive within these boundaries can yield a win.

“Darlington favors the guy who can be very disciplined and is able to push the car right to 99.9 percent of where that tire run is, and be able to put the car up against the wall and not overstep those boundaries. You have to be very disciplined there to get everything out of the car and keep up with the tire fall-off and not tear anything up – on your own, let alone being around everybody else,” Kevin Harvick said.

He made the most Cup race start among active drivers at Darlington and has completed 9937 laps, a record among the active drivers. Harvick also holds the records of most top 5s, most top 10s, and most laps lead among the active drivers. His latest win at the track came in 2020 when he won the race-leading 159 of the 293 scheduled laps.
