Kevin Harvick’s 2023 season so far has been a roller coaster ride. The Ford driver had a strong season as he came close to winning the season opener Daytona 500 but was forced to settle for P12. He had three streaks of top-10 finishes before scoring his first finish outside Atlanta.

Harvick consistently secured top 20 and top 10 finishes before a mid-season slump. In the last five races, he had just scored two top 10s, and playoff opener Darlington saw him finish disappointing P19.

The SHR driver has pointed out that he doesn’t really need anything when asked if he had to win the 2023 title to find closure. The 2014 Cup champion is set to retire at the end of the season. He has been winless the whole 2023 season and has just nine races left to secure a win this season.

For me, I don’t really need anything. I feel like we’re at this point of where we are because we’ve been fortunate to be successful and all the things that come with that. We’ve been close to winning races this year and haven’t had it all workout. I can feel that from the fans on a weekly basis,” Harvick said, as reported by Speedwaydigest.

Harvick, when asked about what is his playoff goal, pointed out that he wants to be comparative in the playoffs and said he has been fortunate enough in that regard. He wants to do what his team has been good at over the years, which is to maximize their out-puts every weekend.

My goal was to be competitive, and we’ve been fortunate to do that, for the most part. There were a couple of weeks where we weren’t very competitive, but it seems that’s kind of the norm with this particular car. You just want to go as far as you can and do everything that you can to maximize each and every week, and that’s what we’re good it,” Harvick said.

For the No:4 team to end his final season of Harvick without a win will be a big blow. They still have nine more races left to secure one, but the poor form of Ford and SHR as a whole put them in an unfavorable position. A winless season isn’t a farewell the future Hall of Famer deserves.
