Stewart Hass Racing veteran Kevin Harvick will retire at the end of the 2023 Cup season, leaving behind a legacy few can match. The 2014 Cup champion will chase the championship for one last time in 2023 before stepping into the Fox booth as a racing pundit while pursuing goals on and off the track. He is also focused on his son Keelan Harvick’s junior racing career.
Once known for his aggressive driving style, the veteran has grown into one of the most respected characters on the track. Nicknamed ‘Happy Harvick,’ the No:4 Mustang driver proved to the Cup garage why Richard Childress Racing entrusted him with the Key’s to the No:29 car after the unfortunate death of Dale Earnhardt Sr. in 2001 following the Daytona 500 tragedy.
Going into his final season, Harvick is set to keep the Mr: Nice Guy persona to the side for some time. Before the 75th season opener, he said he would not hold back from getting back on his rivals on the track. He said, “Dale Jr. summed it up for me by saying it was my NFG tour. If we have to settle scores, we will settle them immediately. We aren’t waiting until next week,”.
Harvick went on to say that though 2023 is his final season, he wants to end as simple as possible. He added, “I explain that to people all the time. There is a difference between a meet-and-greet at the car and one away from the race track. They are two different people. We have put a lot of things in place just to try to make it simple. As simple as possible,”.

Harvick was asked during the Daytona 500 media session whether he felt any awkwardness in 2023, considering its final season. Harvick replied that he has similar feelings going into 2023 as he did in every season in the past, and he has planned everything for the retirement season.
“For me, I have always been a planner. I always feel like when I start the season, I know what the plan is, and I know what I am trying to accomplish and what I am working towards. From the racing side, it is the same. But, this year is just a different plan. You go out and execute the plan and start working on the next plan,” Harvick said,
“As we go through the year, there are obviously things that will have to be executed, and we will have to change some things along the way as special opportunities pop up. Whatever the scenario is, I think we are all prepared to change course and do things that pop up. But as you see the Fox booth stuff announcement and everything that goes with Fox, it is important to know we are going to get started with that this year,” Harvick added.
