NASCAR is one of the prominent racing championships in the United States and the world. The premier stock car racing series has a long way to establish itself internationally as it did in the domestic market. This is mainly because of heavy competition due to the other racing series. There are indications that NASCAR could be hurt as Kevin Harvick announced his retirement plans. The 47-year-old will retire from driving at the end of the 2023 NASCAR season.

Harvick will focus on family time and helping with his son Keelan’s racing career. He will also focus on his role as a broadcaster for the FOX booth. Though these two plans don’t affect NASCAR, his other ambition might worry the sport. Kevin Harvick co-owns CARS Tour, a stock car auto racing series, with Dale Earnhardt Jr., Justin Marks, and Jeff Burton. After his retirement, he wants to focus on making CARS Tour the best touring series in the U.S., which could affect NASCAR.

In an interview with Short Track Scene, Harvick spoke about his goals for the CARS Tour. He stated, “We just want short-track racing to keep getting healthier. For CARS Tour specifically, we just want it to be the best touring series in the country. That’s the goal.” It is understood that the series’ owners have big plans to improve the sport. If Kevin Harvick and the other big names in NASCAR focus on this series, it might attract the NASCAR audience.
