Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr reveal the “Unfortunate circumstances” behind their ‘disastrous’ Darlington run
Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch
The NASCAR cup series team hit the track running last Sunday at Darlington for the first round of playoff racing of the 2022 season. Luck and Next-Gen car’s reliability played a big part in Erik Jones’s march back to the victory lane in the iconic No:45 car for Petty GMS Racing topping Denny Hamlin.
One of the biggest upsets of Sunday was the abysmal end to the race days of Joe Gibbs Racing veteran duo No:18 driver Kyle Busch and No:19 driver Martin Truex Jr. as both the former cup champions were forced to retort their car due to mechanical failure while leading the race.
Martin Truex Jr. Was the first to get back to the garage after he started losing speed which gave Kyle Busch to take the lead from his teammate. Then came Kyle Busch’s turn as his car began to smoke in just a few laps and he also made his way back to the garage.

Martin Truex Jr. acknowledged that this is another tough night for them, but the No:19 team will make a comeback. He added that he deserved a better result and pointed out that things most of the time go wrong for them when they have a good run.
“It’s been tough, and this is another tough night for sure. But we’ll come back next week and fight again. Just mad. Upset. Angry. We deserve better, and no matter what we do this year, it seems wrong. When we run good, stuff goes wrong, and when we run bad, nothing happens,” says Martin Truex Jr.
Martin Truex Jr . pointed out that it was the fifth race of the season where he was the one who deserved to win which is pissing him off, saying, “[It’s] Just one of those years that we can’t get anything to go our way. It’s about the fifth time I should have won this race, and I’ve only won it once, so pretty pissed off,”.
Kyle Busch acknowledged that it was an unfortunate circumstance for him and added that he is proud of the No:18 Camry the team put out to race. “Unfortunate circumstances for us tonight. The guys did a great job and brought a really fast M&M Toyota Camry. Just really proud of the effort,”.
“All the stuff the guys have done and gone through – just all the news and everything that’s going on all year. They’ve dug in and never given up and continue. We had a great car and didn’t have anything to show for it. That’s what I really, really hate about it,” Kyle Bush added.
