The Indianapolis Motor Speedway will witness some of the most skilled road course ringers going at each other in the NASCAR Cup Series event. Two times NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch has come forth proclaiming one of the Supercar ringers coming to IMS as a favorite to go home with the title. It’s non-other than Chicago Street Race winner Shane van Gisbergen.

The three times Supercar champions will drive the No:91 car of Trackhouse Racing for the second time this season at the iconic track. His fellow Supercar championship contender Brodie Kostecki will join him as Busch’s teammate in Richard Childress Racing’s part-time entry. They are joined at Brickyard by 2009 F1 World Champion Jenson Button, with RWR and  WER legend Kamui Kobayashi with 23XI Racing.

When asked about NASCAR’s maiden street race winner chances at IMS, Kyle Busch admitted that, without a doubt, the Kiwi is a contender. The No:8 Chevy driver said that the two times Bathurst 1000 winner is one of the favorites but will not be as dominant as he was at Chicago. Trackhouse Racing having one of the best Road Course packages will help SVG’s Chase of back-to-back Cup success.

I would say he is the favorite going in, for sure. I would say that the gap will be closer from Chicago to the rest of the field that he had. He had us all beat by six to eight-tenths of a second a lap; I would say going into Indy, we should all be within two to three-tenths, but he will still be the best guy,” Kyle Buch told the Media at Pocono.

Brodie Kosteck and Kyle Busch have previously driven together and know each other’s strengths. The Erebus Motorsport Supercars team was able to land a Cup entry with RCR with the help of the link the teams have—Busch No:8 tams’ engineer Andrew Dickinson, who previously worked in the Erebus system.

Busch and Kosteck tested the RCR V8 Supercar earlier this season. The Australian was able to outrace his NASCAR champion teammate by two seconds. As the test progresses progressed, he was able to get back to the front and clock at comparable times. The time Busch took to adjust to the track and car, they made the difference. Busch expects a strong run from his teammate and wishes to learn a few tricks as well.

But, I think those guys are all very good at what they do, and they really understand the heavy stock car feel and basis for these road courses, so I would assume that he will be strong as well. Hopefully, I can lean on him and learn a lot from him and have some time in the sim and stuff like that with him that will allow us to be better off when we get there as well and better prepared,” Busch said.
