Since the introduction of the Next-Gen cars in the 2022, one of the most prominent discussions has been the short-track package. The new car hasn’t been able to produce entertaining races on the short track owing to its issue with traffic, lack of passing and minimal tier degradation. NASCAR has taken multiple steps to make racing better in such track, but nothing hasn’t worked yet.

According to two times NASCAR Cup champion Kyle Busch, NASCAR has made the new package much worse than expected. He was furious with the how the package has turned out for him and that made him to give the frustrating verdict.   When asked about what could make the racing here better, Buch refused to explain saying NASCAR won’t do it.

I didn’t think we could make it worse, but by golly we did... for me anyways. Maybe it’s just because we don’t have it quite figured out like others do, but I cannot follow anybody in front of me whatsoever. It doesn’t matter if I’m in the bottom lane, the middle lane, the top lane – if there is a car in front of me, I am terrible.. really bad.

It’s not just the poor performance of short track package that seems to be the reason for Busch’s criticism. His performance with RCR is these tracks has been disappointing as the No:8 Chevy team is yet secure a top-20 finish in short-track this season, despite starting three races. The veteran seems to be overwhelmed by disappointments.

Kyle Busch details RCR goals amidst disappointing run

After a solid start to the season, RCR started fielding underwhelming cars. He is currently P13 in the points standing so he is looking forward scoring solid points. Their primary goals will to not worry about points right now and get their program competitive.

So, definitely kind of on the back of the mind for sure. But more importantly, just trying to get our program right and up front, and in a position to where we can win a race or two and not worry about points.

Busch qualified P11 to the race at Martinsville and would be hoping to use it as a momentum builder to race and the reminder of the season. If he converts it to a solid top-5 finish or to a possible his win at the iconic short-track since 2017, Busch can definitely position himself as a championship contender.
