Two times NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch came close to winning his second Truck Series race of the season at Bristol. But the future Hall of Famers’ charge to a victory was cut-short due to lapped car traffic. This allowed Christian Ericks of McAnally-Hilgerman Racing to secure his sixth win in the third division alongside a playoffs spot.

Kyle Busch, in the No:7 Spire Motorsports Truck was one of the bets driver of the day. He swept the all the stages and was in his way to secure the win when caution flag was waned with 32 laps left in the race. Stewart Friesen was spun by Nick Sanchez after a failed attempt by the latter to squeeze through and overtake the veteran. This incident resulted in a heated confrontation after the race.

Busch got caught up behind due to the incident and it took him all the laps remaining to catch-up with Ericks. But then again the lapped cars traffic stopped him from securing the victory as he needed bit one more green flag lap to close the gap and secure the victory. If NASCAR hadn’t called caution for the Frieson incident, Busch would’ve been the winner.

I wish it went green. Damn it, they needed to go green. That caution killed the race because the lap traffic was going to be where the race was won, whether I was going to be better or get by and then he could get by me if I got scr***d up in it but lap traffic is gonna be where the race was gonna be at.

Kyle Busch gives his verdict on resin-issue on Bristol track

NASCAR drivers were left confused after the Cup and Truck practice session at Bristol. The new resin coating on the track made it hard for drivers, especially the ones who ran first, to control the car during practice. While talking about the same, Busch confirmed it was hard for the drivers and said that he hopes the situation would changes after 100 or 200 laps on the race.

I don't think it'd last long enough, you know. It'd probably be there for maybe a 100 laps, maybe 200 laps tomorrow, and then it'll be right back to where we are right now. I don't even know that you reapply, but I'm sure somebody will be smarter than me on that.

While the Truck series race lost is disheartening, he has the bigger picture to think about on Sunday. He will be starting the Cup event from P14. He and the No:12 RCR team has to take an extra step to secure the race win and out an end to their struggles.
