Two times NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch, who turned 38 this May, has revealed his plan to retire from the sport he worked for more than half his life. The RCR driver wants to race in sport till his son Brexton Busch is eligible to race full-time in the Truck Series and fight for the championship.

While talking in the recent episode of “Cars & Culture with Jason Stein,” show on SiriusXM Business Radio, he revealed his plan for saying goodbye to the sport. He has everything planned for the future, and the first step will be to stay in the Cup series as long as he can before dropping down to the third division, Truck Series.

He wants to remain in the series, probably with his team Kyle Busch Motorsports, till Brexton Busch turns 16. After his son gets eligible to race in the Series, he wants to share the Truck with him. This is because NASCAR has restricted drivers below the age of 18 from driving on big tracks. So, till he meets the eligibility criteria, Busch will fill in for him.

So, I would do that, and then when Brexton turns 16, he and I can split that truck where he can run the shorter track races, and I can run the bigger track races… And then when he’s 18, he takes it over, and then when he runs it and takes it over and hopefully wins a championship…Like, I’m done. You know, that would, that would be it for me. So that would probably put me around, I guess, 49, 50-years-old,” Kyle Busch said.

While hearing the detailed plan put forth by the 2009 Xfinity Series Champion, the radio show host Jason Stein was surprised and was quick to praise it. He said, “That’s a heck of a plan. I like that.” He will be facing challenges such as keeping his Xfinity team ready and running at the top for the next ten years to make his dream a reality.

The 228 times NASCAR race winner is adamant about making his retirement dream a reality and has already started to work for it. But one thing he has decided yet is what he will do after his time in NASCAR ends. He also confirmed that his Cup career won’t last six or seven years and said the time is ticking for him.

Yeah. That’s the dream. So, I’ve got to make the dream a reality. So, we’re working on that. I’ve got to have that life after racing plan. I don’t have that one set yet. And if my Cup career is going to be over in the next, you know, six or seven years, boy, the time is ticking,” Busch said.

The Cup retirement is still more than half a decade away from him, and at the moment, he is in pursuit of a third Cup title. Since making his RCR debut, Busch has been among the most consistent and improved drivers in the garage. He has won three races so far and has shown incredible consistency. He is hoping to convert it to a title at Phoenix.
