2021 NASCAR Cup series Kyle Larson and his wife, Katelyn Larson, have officially announced the birth of their third child. Cooper Donald Larson is the couple’s second son. The Larson family, who went through a lot in 2022, is rejoicing in the special news. The No:5 Hendrick Motorsports driver opted not to race in the annual Chilli Bowl, which he usually does to share the happy moments with his family. Larson will cherish each happy moment with his family as he is in for another busy schedule next year.

2022 has been a tough year for Kyle and his family. In an exclusive interview with TobyChristie.com, Katelyn revealed that their daughter Audrey had been diagnosed with Alopecia. It’s an autoimmune disorder causing hair loss, which she has been experiencing since she was 18 months old. Doctors were only able to confirm the disease at the start of 2022.

In the beginning, it was like, ‘Why is this randomly happening?’. And then I kind of linked it to flu shots and vaccines, and I didn’t want to talk about that because it can be very controversial. But I have linked it back to that, I believe. Because the two years that she did get one, her hair fell out shortly after,” Katelyn Larson told  Toby Christie.

Kyle Larson then started a big fundraising campaign to treat children suffering from Alopecia. The couple sells shirts under the “KL” brand through his official website and donates the profit to National Alopecia Areata Foundation. It was done during Alopecia Awareness Month.

The No:5 team entered the 2022 cup season as defending champions and started the year with flying colors securing the Daytona 500 pole. Larson secured his first win of the season in Fontana. But he then had to wait for 22 races to secure a second win that came at Watkins Glen. He also won the playoff race in Homestead, Miami.

Larson’s playoff campaign was poor as he was eliminated in the Round of 12 due to inconsistent runs. He also had a controversial encounter with Bubba Wallace during the Las Vegas playoff race. The 23X1 Racing driver physically confronted Larson after wrecking him for an aggressive move Larson made on him.

Though three wins is an impressive feat for any driver in any season, considering Larson scored ten wins to capture the cup title in 2021 makes bit irrelevant. Going into the 2023 season, the primary target of the No:5 garage will be to get back to winning form and dominate the track once again as they did in the past.
