Kyle Larson secured his spot in the championship-4 race at Phoenix on the first week of November by winning the opening race of Round 8 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He defeated Joe Gibbs Racing driver Christopher Bell after a close final laps battle and has no pressure going into the remaining R-8 races at Miami and Martinsville.
But despite securing the spot, Larson isn’t ready to approach the coming two weeks to survive with modest finishes. Rick Hendrick, the driver, wants to dominate the coming two races and the finale. He has good momentum going into the event and is high on confidence, as he was the winner of the event last year.
”It’s nice to win and lock in; you can focus on Phoenix. At the same point, you really can’t look too far ahead of yourself. There’s still two other races before then. I put a lot of pressure on myself going to Homestead. I want to have a great run there. I want to dominate, honestly.’I want to win both stages by 15 seconds and win the race by 30. That’s my goal,” Larson said, as reported by StarTribune.
Larson is in a really good spot to win the title this season. With the Vegas win, he has found his mojo back, and the coming two races will help him prepare for the finale with less pressure. Lats years’ champion Joey Logano also had a similar path to glory. He won the race at Vegas and tackled the finale with full confidence after two weeks of intense preparation.

Kyle Larson’s crew chief insists that Martinsville and Miami won’t be cruise control
Cliff Daniels, the crew chief of Kyle Larson, pointed out that he won’t let the No:5 Chevy Camaro ZL1 crew HMS get complacent and wants to keep the intensity the same for the finale. In order to get his team ready for the final grind, Daniels will be pushing hard to win both Miami and Martinsville.
”From a team exercise, all those other guys are so good, they’re going to be pushing hard to win the next two weeks. I think we have to match that intensity, so we’re going into Phoenix with the right level of intensity ourselves, get there with strength,” Daniels said.
While Daniels has two weeks ahead of his plan, Larson has narrowed his focus to one race. His primary objective is to continue the momentum he has and use it to his advantage in the finale to become only the third active multi-time champion.
