Hendrick Motorsports’ 2021 Cup championship-winning star racer Kyle Larson is considered by many to be among the most capable racers in the world at the moment and a cut above compared to his fellow racers. But for ex-NASCAR drivers turned Sports Analyst Kyle Petty that’s not 100% right as there is another ‘Kyle’ that deserves it more.

While talking about Larson’s dominance at Las Vegas, Petty pointed out that while Larson has magnificent achievements in his career he hasn’t yet secured enough to be on the same level as, Kyle Busch, who is a two times Cup champion and the winningest among the current grid. The tag belongs to Busch till Larson secures better stats.

We talk about Kyle Larson being the greatest race car driver on the face of the Earth at this point in time. You read it in any paper, you pick it up, you see it all the time. 31 years old, 24 wins, one championship. Kyle Busch – 38 years old, seven years older, 63 wins, two championships. Once he [Larson] surpasses Kyle Busch, I’ll give you that he’s one of the greatest race car drivers on the face of the earth and he can do anything anytime, but Kyle Busch is still getting it done.
Petty told NASCAR.com.

The Kyle debate by another Kyle is surely hilarious but the serious bit of the discussion is Busch’s success shouldn’t be overlooked as Larson is establishing himself to be the best. Cherishing every moment the duo produces on the track and applauding them for their accomplishment is the best the fans can do.

There are few Kyle Busch records Kyle Larson would never match

Kyle Busch is currently the most experienced driver on the grid despite not being the oldest. He has over the years amassed few records even Larson can only dream of. The first of them is always in total wins in the national tier, Busch has over 225 wins combined from all three series and even the great Richard Petty is behind him.

Busch is the winningest driver in both Truck and Xfinity Series. If Larson wants to break this record he has to run full-time in the lower division for at least half a decade in top machinery, which probably won’t happen ever.

Busch also has more than double the amount of race victories that Larson and holds the record for winning at least a race in a season for almost two decades. The only way for Larson to write a better Legacy will be to win more championships and continue dominating in other forms of racing as well.
