Kyle Busch was on pace to claim a top-five finish at COTA. However, on lap 40, the two-time champion was spun around by Christopher Bell. This clash between the former teammates became the center of attention after the veteran had a heated exchange with Bell. NASCAR race analyst and ex-racer, Kyle Petty has given his verdict on the incident between the two drivers.

The incident between Kyle Busch and Christopher Bell was the talk of the town on Sunday as it brought back fond memories of Joey Logano and Busch’s fight in 2016. Moreover, the clash left the 38-year-old relegated to the fringes of the top-10, while the Toyota driver pressed on to take P2. This infuriated the ex-Cup series champion and lashed out at his junior for the incident. However, Kyle Petty viewed the collision to be more of Busch’s fault and blamed him for the consequences.

[Kyle]Busch drove that corner like he was the only car on the race track, Christopher Bell filled the hole to the inside. Kyle cuts back across, Christopher is there. That's what you learn to do every race track you ever race on, fill the hole.
Kyle Busch said on NASCAR’s YouTube channel.

The NASCAR analyst sided with Bell and explained that Kyle Busch left a wide gap at the entry of the corner. Moreover, the space left on the inside was enough for any driver to lunge up on his inside and so did the 29-year-old. Thus, interpreting that it was the RCR driver’s fault for the whole clash. Petty also claimed that it was hilarious that the only driver Busch hasn’t yet spun in NASCAR is Bell. This record will most probably erased soon as the former has promised payback.

Christopher Bell gives his opinion on the whole situation at hand with Kyle Busch

The No.20 driver was involved in a heated exchange with his former teammate after the race was over in COTA. However, the JGR driver was not pleased with the eventual outcome of the antics that went on at the hairpin at turn one, and claimed that spinning out Busch was not intentional.

I mean, yeah, obviously he's very upset. Which, you know, he ended up turned around. [Busch] is so frustrated by what happened in Turn 1, and I don't know. They were two-wide going in there. I haven't obviously seen a replay yet, I had no intentions of turning him. I'm sure we'll talk it out before the next race.
Christopher Bell said in an interview with Racing America

The seven-time winner elaborated that Busch was rightly upset with what happened at turn one. However, its racing driving instincts and he went for a gap that was ever-closing, which led to the inevitable clash of the two titans.

Regardless, both drivers are currently around the lower ranges of the top-10 in the series. The pair would want to claim a victory or two under their belt to secure a place in the playoffs before developing their rivalry further and tripping over each other during the races.
