NASCAR over the recent years have witnessed some crazy incidents, but the Saturday’s Xfinity Series ace at COTA has the wildest one of all. The Roper Racing No. 04 Chevrolet Silverado of Marco Andretti was the victim this time. He was racing in the midfield hoping to end it’s day on a good note, but fate has different plans for him.

With just two laps left in the race, the entire rear-axile of the Chevy Truck came of. The two tires and the axile rolling on the infield grass was hilarious. Fortunately, the driver was safe in the accident and didn’t have any significant injuries. But the car was severely damaged and the marshals had to toe the car to the garage.

Marco Andretti was awarded a P31 finish after DNFing, while Corey Heim who was on the lead when the incident happened secured the victory for Toyota in the No:11 Tundra. It was the first NASCAR top tier race of the 2024 season for Andretti and the rough start has put his NASCAR dreams at the age of 37 in a rough spot.

Here is how fans on social media reacted to the Marco Andretti incident

NASCAR fans on social media addressed both the serious and hilarious bits of the incident. Some were quick express their feelings about the incident not turning nasty and Andretti escaping with no injury. It could have resulted in a major incident in the rear axel had stayed on the track and a racer made contact with it.

Tricon Garage, the premier Toyota Truck team on the garage, had the best reaction to the incident. The wrote sharing the video of the incident, “didn’t know boeing had a truck series entry.” It was cheeky dig at Boeing, the Airplane manufacturing giant that has recently been under scrutiny over poor build quality.

Jokes aside, it is a serious issue NASCAR has to investigate. The incident could’ve turned nasty and fortunately id didn’t happen. But to make sure such absurd incident which should never occur during a race will happen again.
