Ryan Truex, the brother of the 2017 Cup series champion Martin Truex Jr, has revealed on his social media handle that he plans to run full-time in the 2023 season. Truex Jr. has already signed a one-year extension with Joe Gibbs Racing’s Cup series team, and the duo hopes to have a strong season in the first and second divisions in 2024.

Ryan Truex, vis his official X handle (previously Twitter), wrote that he will be running full-time in the 2024 series with JGR and added that he is searching for sponsorship. He wrote, “Hello, yes we’re working to put together a full season / looking for partners Joe Gibbs Racing to go after Xfinity championship in ‘24. Open to any and all conversations.”

Finding sponsorship will be the biggest challenge for him in the pursuit of the 2024 championship. He already proved himself with an impressive part-time schedule with JGR, and now it’s time to increase his market value, which will help to attract sponsorship. Truex might have to find around $4 million to fund his full-time debut.

The No:19 JGR Cup driver, Martin Truex Jr., earlier had given a similar update about the driver as well, saying, “We’ve got races for (Ryan Truex) again next year. Hopefully more. We are looking for sponsorship to do a full year, if possible. That is on the table. He does a good job on social media too.”

The rollercoaster NASCAR career of Ryan Truex Jr.

For the Truex brother, the word ‘rollercoaster ride’ define their NASCAR careers. The brothers had to work hard for a long time, race for mid-table and slow teams to establish themselves, finally landing a spot where they could fight for the championship. Martin  Truex Jr. is at the end of his racing journey and is ready to retire. At the same time, for Ryan, it’s just the start.

Ryan Truex’s NASCAR national series career started in the K&N Pro Series East 2008. He won back-to-back titles in the series in 2009 and 2010 with Michael Waltrip Racing. He made his Xfinity Series debut in 2010 and, following multiple part-time Xfinity starts, made his Cup debut in 2013. In 2014 he made his full-time Cup debut with BK Racing, but he lost his seat with six races left in the season.

His next full-time ride came in 2017 in the Truck Series with Hattori Racing Enterprises, which yielded major results other than victories. Ryan’s full-time Xfinity Series debut with Kaulig Racing in 2018 wasn’t a major success, and he was released at the end of the year. After spending two seasons with Niece Motorsports in the Truck Series, he returned to the JGR Xfinity team, driving part-time in 2021.

In 2021, he finished in the top 10 thrice, one of which was a P3 at Atlanta; from five races, he ran the whole season in NASCAR. He also had a similar schedule in 2023 and stepped up his game big time. He finished P2 and P3 in the first two starts of the season. He secured back-to-back top 20s in the next races. At Dover, he secured his first-ever NASCAR race win.
