The crash itself was a spectacle of chaos, with Gred Van Alst’s No. 20 Chevrolet Silverado turning head-on into the outside wall during a multicar pileup. The impact sent all four tires briefly airborne before settling back on the track. Though Van Alst managed to exit his vehicle under his power, he was transported to the infield care center. The severity of the crash warranted further evaluation at a local hospital, making him the second driver to be hospitalized after the event.
