Matt Kenseth is a former American stock car driver and NASCAR Cup Series Champion. Born in Cambridge, Wisconsin, Kenseth began stock car racing at the age of 16. He had an extensive junior career, but despite all his success, Kenseth could not attract a major sponsorship allowing him to race full-time in the Xfinity Series.

In 1997, Kenseth secured a part-time seat in the Xfinity Series when rival Tim Bender was ruled out due to an injury. Kenseth impressed the paddock with stellar performances and 2 top 5 finishes in the partial season and secured a full-time drive for 1998. He won his first Xfinity Series race in Rockingham in 1998.

Kenseth’s call-up to the Cup Series came in Dover in 1998 when he drove Bill Elliott’s No.94 Ford for Elliott-Marino Racing. He finished sixth on his debut, the third-best debut result of any driver in NASCAR history. In 2000, Kenseth became a full-time driver for Roush Racing, with sponsorship from DeWalt. He raced for several teams till his retirement in 2020. In 2022 it was announced that Kenseth would be part of the NASCAR Hall of Fame Class of 2023.
