Memphis Police department recently released a video of the senseless beating of Tyler Nichols. The 29 years died due to the injuries he suffered during the confrontation. He was stopped and detained by five police officers for reckless driving on January 7. The officers used extensive force on the individual resulting in his death three days later.
The public release of the video has once again gathered media attention as the discussion around police violence, and racial justice resurfaced. Many renowned personalities have come forth, raising their voices on the incident, and 23XI Racing NASCAR Cup series driver Bubba Wallace is the latest high-profile athlete to be opinionated on the incident.
The sole African-American racer in the Cup garage took it to Twitter and wrote offered his prayers for Nichols; soul and was left speechless seeing the video. He Tweeted, “I’ve sat here for 12 hours not knowing what to say. Still don’t. Tyre Nichols. I love you. May you rest in peace my beautiful brother,”.
All five officers who were present during the incident were fired from their official duties. The justice department has charged them with criminal charges, and they will be prosecuted after the conclusion investigation into the matter.

Bubba Wallace has been a vocal supporter of racial justice, and he recently took stood up for fellow NASCAR driver who was abused online
Bubba Wallace has been the flag bearer of change in NASCAR. He led the efforts of the premier stock racing body to attract drivers and fans from racial minority groups in the country. He played a big role in banning the confederate flag from NASCAR races and has been the victim of racial abuse online and offline.
Part-time Hispanic Truck and Xfinity series driver Ryan Vargas recently called out the disgusting racing abuse and attacks targeted at his craniofacial disorder. He shared screenshots of such comments he received online.
He tweeted, ”I hate some people, man. Not only coming after my race but making fun of my facial appearance. Sorry, I can’t control that. I have a craniofacial disorder that affects 1 in every 2,000-3,000 people. Whatever. Sick of the disrespect and hate. This world sucks sometimes,”.
Bubba Wallace came across the Tweet and urged him to keep his head high in his reply. He commented, “I need to learn this too..but worry about what YOU can control.. you can’t control these types of people. Politely.. forget them! You do you homie,”.
