The Verizon 200 At The Brickyard at Indianapolis Motor Speedway had its fair share of drama. Apart from Michael McDowell’s epic victory, Chase Elliott’s disappointment from not making it into the 2023 NASCAR Cup playoffs, and Kevin Harvick’s final start at Brickyard, another driver, caused chaos during the race. The No. 47 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 JTG Daugherty Racing driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was involved in an incident with Kamui Kobayashi.
In the latest Door Bumper Clear podcast episode, “Indianapolis: Big Win For The Little Guy,” Brett Griffin, Freddie Kraft, TJ Majors, and Casey Boat discussed Ricky Stenhouse Jr. tagging the Japanese driver Kamui Kobayashi. Boat said, “So seven different countries you represented in different races, and I know Ricky Stenhouse might have..”
She was cut off mid-sentence by her crew member, Griffin a vetran NASCAR Spotter, who burst out laughing and stated, “He [Ricky Stenhouse Jr.] tried to start a world war, he wrecked every … I mean, what the f*** is this guy thinking, if you are from America I’m going to wreck ya. He tried to start a world war Freddie on your birthday.” They implied that Ricky Stenhouse Jr. particularly wrecks international drivers and joked about it. It is safe to say it was a hilarious conversation.

Did Ricky Stenhouse Jr. get into a tussle with any other international driver at Indy?

It was Japanese driver Kobayashi’s NASCAR debut, and it was one he would like to forget. During the race, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. bumped the rear of Kobayashi. In turn 1, he wrecked into the rear of the latter’s No.67 Toyota Camry. As a result of this, Kamui Kobayashi went on a spin and made his way to the pit lane.
He had already suffered from other incidents during the race, and this incident with Ricky Stenhouse Jr. added to his misery. However, this wreck did not go unnoticed, as Freddie Kraft and his podcast crew joked about what happened in Indy.
Stenhouse Jr. also clashed with former F1 champion and British driver Jenson Button at IMS. There is no doubt that NASCAR fans and the Door Bumper Clear team paid attention to this tussle between the duo. The video of Stenhouse Jr. spinning international racing star Kamui Kobayashi went viral on social media, and NASCAR fans had a mixed response.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr.’s moves on the track cracked up some motorsports enthusiasts. However, others were angry at him for ruining another driver’s race. In the end, he finished 25th, and Kobayashi finished 33rd.
