Kyle Petty acknowledged the rise of competitiveness of his Petty GMS team, Justin Marks-owned Trackhouse racing team is an anomaly when compared to the previous seasons.  He pointed out that the 2022 season has seen teams that aren’t the regular talking points as the likes of Joe Gibbs Racing and Hendrick Motorsports going for the top.  He added that the team that was running 15th or 20th place same time last season is now running in the top 10’s for wins.

The rise and the competitiveness of Trackhouse, of GMS Petty Motorsports, of Front Row Motorsports, teams that we haven’t seen run up front and have started winning races. Not Hendrick, not Gibbs, not those types of teams. We’re talking teams that were 15th– and 20th-place teams last year and are now running in the top five and top 10 and winning races,” Kyle Petty said.

Kyle Busch talks about the historic finish last race weekend at Sonoma which saw Trackhouse Racing No:99 driver Daniel Suarez securing the first win of his cup career and becoming the first Mexican to do so, also marked another interesting situation in which the p2 place went to Chris Buescher of RFK Racing and Michael McDowell securing P3 driving for Front Raw Motorsports. As the trio belonging to teams though powerhouses were never close to these finishing places in last season around this time.

Trackhouse ran first at Sonoma. RFK Racing, the Roush Fenway, and Keselowski team went second at Sonoma, and Front Row ran third. Three powerhouse teams (but) names we didn’t even know we were around last year, right? First, second, third,” Kyle Petty Explained.

With the Next-Gen car has been a game changer for NASCAR, but the extent to which it was able to reach isn’t yet at the optimal point as the traditional big teams still have the clear dominance over others. Though the season so far has been good for the Petty GMS drivers they are yet to secure a playoff spot due to lack of win and it isn’t seem to be a possibility for them as they still lack the things that can get them a win compared to their counterparts.
