“People just run over each other” Ryan Blaney on the disappointing end to his Indy cup race run

The Indianapolis cup race showed how chaotic restart in the road courses can be as every restart that took place at the track saw one of the drivers getting wrecked, showed to the grass, or getting spun. Tyler Reddick who started the race on the pole was able to keep his calm and stay at the top to win the race while avoiding the chaos that unraveled behind him.

Ryan Blaney was one of the victims of the restart as the No:12 Team Penske Racing Mustang driver, who was going strong for his first cup race win of the season which also would have cemented his playoff spot. Ryan Blaney throughout the day was giving a strong competition to Reddick for the win but he finished P27 at the end as he couldn’t survive the final restart, upfront.

In the overtime restart Blaney lined up alongside Reddick but when the green flag came Blaney was in a three-way battle with AJ Allmendinger and Trackhouse Racing driver Daniel Suarez and the duo spun him at turn one around causing him to finish at the back. Ryan Blaney later ‘kind of’ took his revenge at Daniel Suarez spinning him in the cool-down lap after the finish and now has come forth expressing his thoughts on how the race when down.

Talking about the turn one spin that took him out of contention Ryan Blaney acknowledged fuming, that he was just getting wrecked by drivers, and added that he doesn’t care who did that to him as everyone does that towards the end of the race “That was a case of just getting wrecked; that’s all people do at the end of these things. [They] just dive in there and [expletive] wreck you. And I don’t know who shoved who [and] I don’t care,”.

Ryan Blaney went on to say that the tires didn’t matter at the end as they did matter in the three times they restarted at the front. He added that restarts are all about survival which is a hard thing to ask as they just run over each other to make sure they are the ones that exit the first corner at the front.

The tires didn’t matter at the end. We restarted [in the] top three both times and tires don’t really matter. It’s just a matter of getting through on the restart, but apparently, that’s a hard thing to ask because people just run over each other,” Ryan Blaney said.

Ryan Blaney went on to say he got lucky in the middle once but it didn’t open to him in the last couple of restarts which could have given him the advantage. He added that none of the drivers driving behind him didn’t care about him being upfront as they just went on the curb shoving him out of the way.

“I got lucky through the middle one time, and the middle never really opened one of the last couple restarts. I was protecting right, and I guess whoever was behind me didn’t care, or whoever was behind him didn’t care. I don’t know. They jump over the curb and wipe you out,” Ryan Blaney added.

Ryan Blaney went on to add that he didn’t really had a shot at winning or getting past Tyler Reddick by putting the bumper to him or making a move on him. He pointed out that he just got wiped out at the end which makes him very furious, which he has all the right to be.

I didn’t even have a shot at it. I didn’t have a shot to get to…[Reddick] and try to put the bumper to him or anything like that. I just get wiped out and I don’t know…I’m [expletive] off about it, and I have every [expletive] right to be,” Ryan Blaney explained.
