The 2024 NASCAR Cup season hasn’t been kind to No:3 Chevy driver Austin Dillon to say the least. He continued his underwhelming run from the 2023 season that saw missed out on playoff and finish outside the top-25 in points while his teammate Kyle Busch scored three wins.  He finished outside the top 20 in five of the six races this season, and hie best finish so far is a P16.

At Richmond during the Toyota Owners 400, Austin Dillon saw his race going from bad to worse as he gets himself from a P22 in the start to P32. Dillon lost it after a pit-strategy backfired and caused his fell in the pecking order. He lamented about the situation shouting via team radio using curse words at his crew.

We have dumbass strategy every f***ing week! We’re indecisive, we don’t know what to do.
Austin Dillon said.

RCR owner and the grandfather of Dillon, Richard Childress is known for his radio conversations. The bossman had to step in to cool down his grandson and he just straight up reminded Dillon that him shouting on the team radio won’t do anything good.

Two drivers are waiting on the sidelines to replace Austin Dillon

At the end of the day, Childress is a team owner and he has to overlook the love he has for his grandson and take harsh decision. Dillon is not is producing results the team deserves and they have two drivers in the Xfinity Series garage who could be perfect replacements.

Top on the list is Austin Hill, who has been performing on the high level in the Xfinity Series over the last two season. He is proven race winner and has also showed his loyalty last year when he extended his stay with the RCR Xfinity side though he could’ve secured a Cup seat with another team.

The second option is young sensation Jesse Love who debuted for the team in the 2024 season. He has proven himself to be a contender with multiple pole wins and it won’t be long before he secures his maiden Xfinity race win. RCR would’ve to give Love a Cup seat with in the next-two seasons, as the prodigy might look for another options.
