Rick Hendrick lashes out at Ross Chastain for wrecking mentality, claims the Trackhouse driver is wasting his talent
Rick Hendrick has suffered significant financial loss due to Chastain crashing Kyle Larson more than once.
Rick Hendrick and Ross Chastain
Ross Chastain has re-established his Villain persona as he prompted the wreck of Hendrick Motorsports Kyle Larson while both drivers fought for the lead. This gifted William Byron the lead, and the youngster was able to reap the benefit by securing the win. Chastain had a fight with rookie Noah Gragson after an on-track tussle last weekend.
HMS owner Rick Hendrick has voiced his opinion on the Trackhouse Racing driver breaching the limits with hyper aggression. The Hall of Famer pointed out that Chastain is wasting his talent with such aggression that only yields enemies. Hendrick said that there isn’t just one driver that is waiting for payback on Ross Chastain.
“I think you can ask any driver in here that he’s wrecked or been involved with him; he doesn’t have to be that aggressive. I guess at this point in the race, maybe you’re super-aggressive but don’t run people up into the fence. Rick Hendrick said.
“He’s going to make a lot of enemies, and it’s hard to win a championship when you got a lot of paybacks out there. He’s got so much talent; I think if he just calmed down that there’s a time in the race,” Rick Hendrick added.
Hendrick pointed out that HMS will not hesitate to wreck Chastain just because he is in a Chevy. He said, “I don’t care if he’s driving a Chevrolet if he wrecks our cars. I don’t care, and I told Chevrolet that. If you wreck us, you’re going to get it back. And if you don’t, they’ll run all over you. I’m not going to ask them to yield just because it’s Chevrolet,”.

Rick Hendrick asks Trcakhouse boss Justin Marks to have a word with Chastain
Hendrick then went on to say that Justin Marks needs to have a word with his driver about his aggressive attitude. He said, “I would think Justin would have a conversation with him. Again, if you have a lot of people wanting to pay you back, then it’s hard to win a championship that way. He’s got talent enough to do that, but we don’t want to get knocked out,”.
He said that Kyle Larson has to get back at Chastain, considering the points he lost due to the incident. Hendrick said, “If you look at the points that Larson’s lost because of (incidents with Chastain) and the race here today. I think somewhere in the stages; he was all over Larson. The drivers have to settle that,”,
